Tickets for the rest of the season will go on sale Saturday. Fans will no longer be required to social distance and pod-style seating will be eliminated.

Tickets for a full-capacity Wrigley Field go on sale Saturday June 5 at 2 p.m.

The game against the Cardinals on June 11 will be the first time since 2019 that the Cubs can play in front of a capacity crowd at the stadium.

The move comes after Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that the city can fully reopen on June 11.

“We’ve done great work as a city. Lots of individual sacrifices along the way. So, I think we’re ready to move to Phase 5 with the state next Friday, June 11,” Lightfoot said Thursday.

With full capacity in place, the team will update health and safety protocols. Fans will no longer be required to social distance and pod-style seating will be eliminated. Gates will open two hours before first pitch, season ticketholders will return to their normal seat location and the bleachers will return to general admission. Wrigley’s touchless entry process and bag restrictions will remain in place as well as mobile tickets and cashless concessions and retail.

Shot at the park

Major League Baseball announced on Friday that it will offer incentives to unvaccinated fans through a program called “MLB Vaccinate At The Plate,” taking place throughout June.

Each of the 30 teams will host at least one event in June where unvaccinated fans will be able to receive a free ticket to a game if they get a COVID-19 vaccination shot at the event.

Teams will have the flexibility to construct the giveaway to their own specifications including where the event is hosted, when in June it takes place, and if the tickets are good for that day’s game or a game later in the 2021 season.

The teams also will work with a local healthcare provider or a national pharmacy provider to administer the shots and provide the necessary on-site health and safety precautions.
