Police urge residents to avoid multiple suburban streets amid ‘active investigation'

Residents in a west Chicago suburb are being asked to avoid numerous roadways as police conduct an “active investigation” Tuesday.

The Kane County Sheriff’s office said it, alongside the Sugar Grove Police Department, was assisting the Lombard Police Department with an investigation in multiple locations, including:

  • Sugar Grove Parkway/Prairie Street
  • Illinois Route 47/Bliss Road
  • Illinois Route 47/Finley Road
  • Illinois Route 47 at I-88

“As part of the investigation, deputies and officers are conducting K-9 searches and increased patrols in these areas,” the sheriff’s office wrote on social media. “To allow emergency personnel to work safely and efficiently, we ask motorists and pedestrians to avoid these locations until the investigation is complete.”

Police said there is no “known ongoing threat to the general public at this time” but no additional details on the investigation were provided.
