Man charged with murder in Austin shooting

Marvin Browder was charged with first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Develle Sprawls.

A man was charged with fatally shooting another man while the pair were allegedly drinking early Tuesday in an Austin basement on the West Side.

Marvin Browder, 37, faces first-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Develle Sprawls, Chicago police said.

The two men were drinking in a basement apartment, where Browder lived, about 3:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of West Flournoy Street when Browder allegedly shot Sprawls, police said.

Sprawls was struck in the head and chest, and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Browder is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
