Mixtape giants The Lox and Dipset next up in Verzuz battle

The Lox and Dipset are well-known to hip-hop fans for their mixtape volume prowess and high profile record label associations.

Two groups well-known to astute hip-hop fans — Dipset and The Lox — are slated for the next Verzuz battle, scheduled at 8 p.m. Tuesday via Instagram, the Triller app, the Fite TV app.

Both groups have ties to hip-hop’s mainstream and New York’s hyperlocal scene, while maintaining a national following via mixtape volume prowess and high profile record label associations.

Dipset, otherwise known as The Diplomats, is a Harlem-based collective consisting of Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey. Their debut album “Diplomatic Immunity” was released on Jay-Z and Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Records, and their second album — “Diplomatic Immunity 2” — was released independently.

The first two albums feature standout tracks “Dipset Anthem,” “Gangsta,” “Bout It Bout It... Part III,” “What’s Really Good,” “S.A.N.T.A.N.A.” and “Crunk Muzik.” Dipset also boast a healthy amount of mixtapes and compilation albums including “More Than Music, Vol. 1” and the “Diplomats” series.

As for the group’s solo work, Cam’ron’s hits include “House & Carriage,” “Let Me Know,” “Hey Ma” and “Get Em Girls.” Jones’s standout work includes “We Fly High,” “ Pop Champagne” and “Summer with Miami,” while Santana boasts “Dipset (Santana’s Town)” and “There It Go (The Whistle Song).”

After a much-publicized split with Bad Boy Entertainment, The Lox released their second album with Ruff Ryders Entertainment.

The Lox — Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch — are primarily known for their stint on Bad Boy Entertainment, where their platinum-selling album “Money, Power & Respect” includes the hits “Money, Power & Respect” with Lil Kim and DMX and solo tracks “All For Love” and “Goin’ Be Some S—.”

After a much-publicized split with Bad Boy, they signed with Ruff Ryders Entertainment with past Verzuz contestants Swizz Beats, Eve, and the late DMX, where they made the album “We Are the Streets.”

The trio has solo careers — Jadakiss garnering most the success — with standout tracks “We Gonna Make It,” “Knock Yourself Out,” “By Your Side,” “Why?” “Put Ya Hands Up,” “Good Times” by Styles P and “Get Money (Sheek Louch).”

Outside of the their albums and solo workthe trio is known for their “D-Block” mixtapes featuring freestyles and unreleased material.

Acts have yet to be announced for future Verzuz battles.
