A 27-year-old Grayslake resident has died after his motorcycle crashed into an SUV on Saturday morning.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene of a collision near the intersection of Route 45 and Dada Drive in unincorporated Gurnee at approximately 6:20 a.m. Saturday.
Police say an eyewitness relayed that the motorcyclist had been riding northbound on Route 45 at a high rate of speed, and had briefly lost control on the wet pavement before continuing northbound toward Dada Drive.
The motorcyclist then failed to navigate a curve in the road and crashed into a Nissan SUV, according to police. He was thrown from the motorcycle by the force of the impact, and responding officers applied a torniquet and he was transported to an area hospital.
He was pronounced dead a short time later, authorities said.
The driver of the SUV was uninjured, and is cooperating with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
