What to Know

• President Trump is meeting face-to-face with Russia’s Vladimir Putin this afternoon for a pivotal Alaska summit that could reshape both the war in Ukraine and relations between Moscow and Washington.
• Trump told European leaders this week that his goal is to secure a ceasefire and that he does not intend to discuss any possible divisions of territory. Days earlier, though, he said there would “be some land swapping” between Russia and Ukraine.
