A woman was found dead following a fire at a high-rise apartment building in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood, fire officials said.
The fire was reported Thursday morning at Northwest Tower Apartments, 1170 W. Erie Ave. The Chicago Fire Department, in a post on X, said an adult female was found and pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman had yet to be identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as of Thursday afternoon.
CFD officials said the fire was extinguished with hand pumps, and the cause remained under investigation.
