Popular Chips Ahoy! snack sold nationwide recalled due to choking threat

A major nationwide recall of a popular Chips Ahoy! snack due to choking threats has expanded, according to a release from the Food and Drug Administration, with more products now part of the safety warning.

The voluntary recall of Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie, from snack maker Mondelēz Global LLC, was initially announced Dec. 24, 2025, the FDA said.

According to the release, the recall was initiated because of an “incorrect mixing process” that resulted in small, corn starch clumps in the snack.

“Due to the characteristics and size of the small starch clumps, the clump could constitute a choking hazard, particularly in special risk groups, such as young children and the elderly,” the FDA said.

The recall is limited to Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie products with the following UPC codes and “best when used by” dates. No other Chips Ahoy! or MondelÄ“z Global LLC snacks are part of the recall, the FDA said:
