Now in its ninth day, the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics continue to captivate audiences around the world.
While medals have awarded across a wide variety of sports, plenty of competition still hasn’t taken place, from snowboarding to ice skating and more.
Even though most folks tuning in are focused on the action underway, some are wondering what’s to come. Many have have turned to Google with questions about the next Winter Olympics.
Where are the next Winter Olympics?
The 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will take place in the French Alps.
Ahead of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, organizers of the 2030 Games presented their vision, with French Alps 2030 President Edgar Grospiron saying in part, “…Our mountains must reinvent themselves to meet the challenges of our time.”
“Within the vision, we wish to preserve the pioneering spirit that has always driven the organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in France. We also seek to innovate and look resolutely towards the future,” he stated, according to Olympics.com.
When will they be held?
The Games will take place from Feb. 1 to 17, 2030.
Will competitions only take place in one city?
The 2030 Winter Olympics will follow a similar pattern of Milan Cortina, hosting events in a number of cities.
Competition will take place in four areas – in Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Briançon and Nice, from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea.
Are these the next Olympics?
While they’re the next iteration of the Winter Olympics, another Olympics will take place first.
Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, July 30 of that year.
What’s next?
One upcoming notable moment will take place during the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics: the handover portion of the Closing Ceremony.
Then in the spring, the Olympic and Paralympic emblems will be unveiled, according to the Olympics website.
The venue masterplan and sports program are expected to be published by the early summer months.
