A suburban St. Charles man is facing an attempted murder charge, along with several others, after allegedly displaying a knife and charging toward police officers, authorities said.
Licurgo Diazsandi, 23, was charged with attempted murder, armed violence, attempt to disarm a peace officer, aggravated assault to peace officer with a weapon, criminal damage to government property and resisting a police officer.
St. Charles police said officers were called to East Main Street and Hunt Club Drive at around 11:34 p.m. Friday for a report of a person running in and out of the roadway toward vehicles. When officers arrived, they attempted to speak with Diazsandi, however, authorities said he quickly brandished a knife and charged toward police.
One officer deployed a taser and struck Diazsandi, while a second fired his gun, but didn’t hit him. Diazsandi was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.
He has since been released from the hospital and was booked into the Kane County Jail.
