Cubs to unveil tribute to 2016 World Series champs at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their 2016 World Series championship, and they’ll unveil a new tribute to the champs next month.

In a rendering released on social media Monday, the Cubs revealed the design of the “Champion’s Gate,” which will welcome fans to Wrigley Field and will pay homage to the three World Series titles the franchise has won in its history.

According to the Cubs, the archway will be officially dedicated at Wrigley Field on Saturday, July 18 before the team’s game against the Minnesota Twins.

The Cubs’ World Series triumph in 2016 was the club’s first since 1908, ending a 108-year title drought. The Cubs also won the World Series in 1907, and all three of those championships will be honored by the new archway.

The “Champion’s Gate” will be located along Clark Street, and will serve as the main entrance to Gallagher Way, a green space adjacent to Wrigley Field.

More celebrations are planned for the game to honor the 2016 World Series champions, with the Cubs promising more details at a later date.
