Man in critical condition after he was shot during armed robbery in River North

A man is in critical condition after he was shot during an armed robbery in Chicago’s River North neighborhood early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 2:13 a.m., a 32-year-old man was walking on the 400 block of North LaSalle Street when a white SUV occupied by men who have not been identified by authorities approached him and demanded property from him, police said. One of the suspects then pulled out a gun and fired it in the man’s direction.

The 32-year-old man was shot several times, police said, and the suspects fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was initially listed in critical condition.

An investigation remains ongoing.
