When does the United States play again in the World Cup?

The United States has already punched its ticket into the knockout stage of the World Cup, and we already know where they’ll be playing to try keeping their title hopes alive.

After a pair of strong victories to open up the tournament, the United States has captured the top spot in Group D, making them one of three teams to secure the top spot in their group in this stage of the tournament.

Now, the question for fans is when the United States squad will play again, and how their road in the knockout stage will get underway.

Before they arrive in the knockout stage, carrying the momentum of a 4-1 win over Paraguay and a 2-0 win over Australia, the United States does have one more group play game coming up. On Thursday at 9 p.m. Central, the United States will be taking on Turkiye, who has already been knocked out of the tournament after losses to Australia and Paraguay.

Following that game, the United States won’t have to travel far, as their next game would see them staying on the West Coast.

According to the World Cup’s bracket, with 32 teams competing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the winner of the title, the United States will be back in action on Wednesday, July 1 when they take the pitch at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium against a to-be-determined opponent.

In this year’s tournament, the top-two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage, and eight teams that finish in third place in their groups will also advance, with the knockout stage expanding from 16 teams to 32 for this year’s World Cup.

As a result, the United States will take on a third place team from Group B, E, F, I or J, according to FIFA. Some potential opponents could include Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ecuador, Sweden and Curacao, though that opponent has yet to be determined.

Two other teams have already clinched the top spots in their group, including Germany, whose win over the Ivory Coast secured them the Group E crown. They’ll play in Boston on June 29.

Mexico has also advanced to the knockout stage, and they’ll play in Mexico City on June 30 after winning Group A.

The World Cup will continue through July 19, with the knockout stage getting underway on Sunday, June 28.
