Body pulled from Fox River in Elgin identified as man reported missing by family

A body pulled from the Fox River in Elgin this week has been identified as a man who had been missing for nearly a month, officials said Friday.

The Kane County Coroner’s office revealed the body of a man pulled from the water early Thursday morning in the 200 block of South Grove Avenue.

The body was identified as 41-year-old Victor Marin, of Elgin, who had been reported missing by family on June 28.

Autopsy results indicated a preliminary cause of death was drowning, but toxicology results were being sent to a national laboratory for “further evaluation.”

“Kane County Coroner, Dr. Monica Silva, and her staff, extend their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Victor Marin,” the coroner’s office said in a release.

The incident marks the latest in a string of deaths reported in bodies of water around the Chicago area, and the most recent in the Fox River.
