A retaining wall collapsed near a ramp on the Kennedy Expressway in recent days, with IDOT launching emergency repairs this week.
According to officials, those temporary repairs will get underway Tuesday near the exit ramp onto Lawrence Avenue on the inbound side of the expressway.
The retaining wall collapsed on Saturday according to officials, leading to a temporary closure of the ramp as IDOT workers did an evaluation of the structure and of any potential dangers to the public.
No injuries were reported following the collapse.
According to IDOT officials, emergency repairs will take approximately one week to complete, and once that work is done one lane of the two-lane ramp will reopen to traffic.
Officials say further inspection is needed to determine if the wall will need to be partially or completely replaced, according to a release.
