Metal debris found at suburban school under investigation by FAA

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a piece of debris, possibly from an aircraft, was found at a northwest suburban school Monday morning.

Barrington Hills police said they were called around 8:30 a.m. by staff at Noah’s Ark Christian Academy at United Methodist Church on Algonquin Road. There, during morning security checks, “staff located a piece of metal debris outside of their building on their grounds,” police said.

Responding officers reported the object was about 3 feet by 4 feet and “was possibly from an aircraft.”

The FAA confirmed to NBC Chicago the FAA is investigating the discovery.

“The FAA is in possession of the part and is investigating,” the agency said.

The school and police declined to provide images of the object in question.
