Illinois State Police are investigating after a driver died and a passenger was injured in a crash on Illinois Route 394 on Saturday night.
According to police, the driver was pulling onto the ramp to U.S. 30 in suburban Ford Heights just after 11 p.m. Saturday when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons.
The vehicle then slammed into a tree, leaving both the driver and a passenger with serious injuries.
The driver was pronounced dead a short time later, and the passenger was transported to an area hospital, according to authorities. There was no immediate word on the passenger’s condition after the crash.
The ramp was temporarily closed after the crash, but it has since reopened, according to Illinois State Police.
