Popular organic ice cream sold in multiple states including Illinois recalled: See which flavors

Check your freezer: A popular organic ice cream sold in more than a dozen states including Illinois has been recalled, with health officials warning the containers could contain metal fragments and grocery stores urged to pull the product from shelves.

The voluntarily recall, for select flavors and sizes of Straus Family Creamery Organic Ice Cream, was issued May 14. According to a press release from the Food and Drug Administration, certain pints and quarts of the ice cream could contain “metal foreign material.”

The products, the FDA said, were sold in retailers starting May 4 in 17 states, including Arizona; California; Colorado; Connecticut; Florida; Georgia; Iowa; Illinois; Indiana; Maryland; New Jersey; Oregon; Pennsylvania; South Carolina; Texas; Washington and Wisconsin.

“Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged to discard the product,” the FDA said. No reports of injury or illness were reported.
