The driver of a sedan was charged with driving under the influence after striking and killing a motorcycle rider on DuSable Lake Shore Drive late Wednesday night, Chicago police said.
Miracle Hall, 25, of Chicago, was charged with felony aggravated DUI/accident/death, misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol BAC 0.08 and – driving under the influence of alcohol – various traffic citations.
About 11:30 p.m., Hall was driving a grey sedan in the southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Grant Park when she struck a motorcycle rider in the same direction, police said.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 49-year-old woman, was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, Chicago police said. She was identified as Mehrnoosh Hatami, of Gary, Indiana, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Hall was not injured.
Photos and video from the scene showed debris blocking both the north and southbound sides of DuSable Lake Shore Drive near The Field Museum, with a motorcycle lying on its side in the middle of the lanes as police worked to clear it. A crashed sedan could be seen nearby.
