Amazon Prime gas discount: Save 20 cents a gallon on Fridays

As Americans grapple with record-high gas prices, Amazon is offering Prime members a little more relief at the pump just in time for the holiday travel season.

Starting Oct. 2, Prime members can save 20 cents per gallon of gas when they fill up on Fridays.

The company added a fuel discount to its list of perks in 2024, giving Prime members 10 cents off per gallon at thousands of gas stations across the U.S. But from now until Jan. 29, 2027, Amazon is doubling the discount on Fridays.

The discount comes as prices at the pump averaged $4.64 a gallon in Illinois for regular, according to AAA.

How to get the discount

The 20-cent gas discount applies at more than 7,500 Amoco, AM/PM and BP gas stations across the country. To receive the discount, members must sign up for BP’s free Earnify rewards program and download the Earnify app, which helps users locate participating gas stations near you.

Members then have to link their Prime account to their Earnify account. An Earnify account offers an automatic 5 cents off a gallon and Amazon offers an additional 5-cent savings for Prime members for a total of 10 cents off year-round. This applies to all fuel types with no minimum or maximum gallon requirement.

The 20 cents off per gallon deal is valid for one time use each Friday during the promotional period. The discount is valid for up to 35 gallons.

To redeem the offer at the pump, input your phone number or linked payment method when fueling. Members can also use the Earnify app to select the gas station and pump they are using to redeem the discount.

Canceling your Prime membership will immediately end the offer. The cost of a membership is $139 a year. Discounted memberships are available for students with a valid school email account at $69 a year.
